Responsibilities

The National Energy Skills Center is seeking suitably qualified persons to design Practical Assessments, based on Caribbean Vocational Qualification and/or Trinidad and Tobago National Vocational Qualification Standards (where applicable).


  1. To teach courses as scheduled/required.
  2. Assist in the coverage of classes for absent colleagues.
  3. Deliver courses as identified in lesson plans and develop appropriate course materials, including lecture notes, projects, assignments handouts, assessments and contributions to examinations, ensuring that all information is sufficient for successful completion of the course.
  4. Ensure that required class preparation is completed in a timely manner.
  5. Utilize effective and professional teaching and demonstrating techniques in instructing students to achieve established objectives.
  6. Coach/guide/assist students in achieving program/career goals and objectives.
  7. Maintain currency with industry trends and needs, and continuously update courses and teaching information with current practices and/or changes in the industry.
  8. Evaluate student performance, maintaining appropriate records, and referring students with potential challenges for appropriate support.
  9. Accurately and punctually submit all student-related data (attendance, assignments, projects, assessment results, student log book information) for processing.
  10. Ensure adherence to relevant rules, regulations and procedures.
  11. Maintain the safety and security of all assigned personnel and equipment.
  12. Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching, research and performance issues.
  13. To carry out research and produce publications, or other research outputs, in line with personal objectives agreed in the Staff review process.
  14. To obtain research funding support.
  15. To engage with the broader scholarly and professional communities.
  16. To supervise or assist with supervision of students. To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum.
  17. To assist in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.
  18. To participate in departmental and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
  19. To participate in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments.
  20. To provide pastoral care and support to students.
  21. To participate in the administration of the department's programmes of study and other activities as requested.
  22. To contribute to departmental, faculty, or NESC wide working groups or committees as requested.
  23. To maintain own continuing professional development.
  24. To actively follow and promote NESC policies and procedures.
  25. Demonstrate and encourage integrity and loyalty towards the NESC and its agents among staff.
  26. Perform all duties in compliance with HSSE & ISO standards as specified by the HSSE & ISO departments.
  27. Assist in establishing new strategic alliances for the benefit of the trainees, and in student recruitment and placement activities.
  28. Perform related duties as required.

Qualification and Experience

  1. Undergraduate Degree in respective technical field or equivalent AND Five years relevant industry/field experience
  2. Certification in Education
  3. Masters in Education will be an asset with two years teaching experience
