Refrigeration and Air Condition Diploma

Graduates will have a thorough knowledge of the principle components of refrigeration systems, heat/cool units and air conditioning electrical and automatic controls. They will be capable of assembling, installing or overhauling all components and be proficient in the use of test instruments. After completing this course students are able to apply their knowledge of the installation, and service of HVAC systems in accordance with standards for the industry.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of 1640 hours of relevant work experience makes graduates eligible for the NESC Diploma.

Prerequisites:
  • FIVE CSEC Subjects: Math, English, a Science subject (Integrated Science, Physics, Chemistry) AND Any other two CSEC Subjects
    OR
    Any Work experience and any combination of CSEC Subject including Math, English, and a Science subject
    OR
    Any prior training/short courses in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and any combination of CSEC Subjects
  • Mature students with appropriate qualifications and experience.
  • Be sixteen (16) years or older.
  • Pass an interview.
  • Pass a Drug Test at their cost.

Registration Fee: $500 (non refundable)

Graduates will receive an NESC Diploma (equivalent to the Trades Professional Qualification, Alberta, Canada).

The following are the primary objectives of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Programme:

  • Exercise good judgment and resourcefulness in construction, maintenance and workplace health and safety.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the principle components of refrigeration systems, heat/cool units and air conditioning electrical and automatic controls used in all aspects of the refrigeration and air conditioning industry.
  • Be capable of assembling, installing or over hauling all components and be proficient in the use of test instruments.
  • Know, and be able to apply their knowledge of the installation, and service of HVAC systems in accordance with standards for the industry.
